Most of my family history can be traced through Pennsylvania in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The migration pattern was simple. Start east, move west, so that by the late 19th century most of my ancestors were living in a 40-mile diameter that encompassed Armstrong, Clarion, Indiana, and Jefferson counties.

I am interested mostly in Pennsylvania genealogy with concentration in LOWMASTER (incl. Laumeister, Laumaster, Lowmaster, Lawmaster, Loumaster) where I've spent more than 25 years trying to see if everyone named Lowmaster and Lawmaster are related. I concluded they are. I also concentrate on my SHERRY (Scherie) and STATES surnames. Other names of interest include Bartlebaugh, Kurtz, McDowell, Postlethwaite (any spelling) Spyker, and Wenger. By the late 19th century most of my ancestors were living in a 30-mile diameter that encompassed Armstrong, Clarion, Indiana, and Jefferson counties. My earlier ancestors were in Lancaster, Lebanon, Northumberland, and York counties, Pa.

Primary names/lines of research include:

Bartlebaugh

Lowmaster (Lawmaster, Loumaster, Laumeister, Laumaster)
McDowell

Discussion of this research is on my Family History Blog.
